Velomobiles (meaning recumbent tricycles with a fairing/bodywork for weather protection, aerodynamic advantage, and cargo capacity.) Note A: Velomobiles can be constructed in one of two possible configurations: tadpole, or delta. * Tadpole = two wheels at the front, one wheel at the back. * Delta = one wheel at the front, two wheels at the back. Note B: Velomobiles can be constructed in one of two methods: body-on-frame, or monocoque. * Body-on-frame: the tricycle frame/chassis is attached to and surrounded by an external faring - two units combining into one. * Monocoque: there is no frame/chassis inside - the fairing itself is the load-bearing and supporting structure for the vehicle - one integrated unit. Note C: The fairing can be made using a variety of materials, including aluminum, carbon fiber, fiberglass, wood, or rotomolded plastic, among others. Note D: Electric pedal-assist systems could be added to the velomobile, as in the ubiquitous electric-assist bicycles available in the market, and adhering to established legal limits and regulations within the "bicycle" category.
